Social Thinking & Skills
  Skills Development

My Step Up To Social Skills programs allow for various configurations for skills development. One on one groups or two or three or four on one groups.

Sometimes the skills that need to be acquired are even more specific than offered in the 6 level program. This might be for a young adult who is going off to college, or a teenager applying for their first job, or for an elementary student who wants to go to camp. In this case I offer private sessions to prepare the young person and teach very specific social skills relating to their goal. We work systematically breaking down all the social steps and thinking needed for them to master and generalize the skills to succeed in their endeavour. We develop fall back plans and ways to comfortably seek help and ways to decide when it is time to reach out to others for support. They are very much involved in the creation of their process and so are very motivated to succeed in acquiring their new skills.

To begin this process I meet with both the student and the parent to see what skills they already have in place so that we can start from where they are and move forward.

The other facilitators and therapists that also work one on one with students are also matched for experience, training, and personality to each individual case.
