I began doing Program Development after I had seen a number of clients who had psycho educational assessments done but had not moved forward in remediating any of the underlying challenges contributing to their results.
To clarify this we can take an example of a child with written output difficulties. Most answers to this would be to just have the child learn how to keyboard. But this is only one step in the many that parents can do to help their child succeed. As an example just one of the questions that could be asked: Is the child having trouble writing due to an inability of the eyes to track properly? If this is a possibility then a further assessment done by a developmental optometrist must be undertaken.
All the pieces to the puzzle that mark this child's learning challenge must be put into place. As each piece is remediated you find that the severity of the challenge greatly diminishes and becomes much more manageable and the child much more successful at anything they choose to undertake.
My role therefore is to analyze the assessments, put together a resource team for the client and develop a program that will work, coordinate supports, schedules and goals for the team, and keep a focus that will lead to sustainable success. I am looking to develop the most effective program in time, resources, finances and results.
