Many of my clients have undergone psycho-educational assessments. They leave the psychologists office with many pages of results and only one page of general recommendations. My job is to go through those pages of results and analyze what they are saying in real terms. What does it really mean to have poor working memory, what is the best approach to take in view of all of the other test results, what is available for remediation or accommodation, who can help, what other assessments should be done in light of these particular results.
After I have walked through the assessment in terms of what is both obvious and not, I usually recommend that we move to the next phase of services available to families which is program development, where we can put together the most effective program possible.
